Conference theme
Transforming the culture and practice of research supervision in diverse contexts: Pedagogy, Practice, and Policy
Venue
The Milner Hotel, York, UK with an evening dinner at the National Railway Museum.
This will be an inclusive, scholarly-based conference with a focus on culture change and transformation of doctoral supervision. Topics include but are not restricted to:
Professional Development for supervisors in HEIs and Industry
Recognition and value of supervision as part of a positive research culture
Team and Collaborative Supervision
Hidden Curriculum of Supervision
The ‘Next Generation’ of supervisors
Quality and consistency in supervision practice and experience
AI, Social Media and emerging technologies and their impact on supervision
Equity, diversity and inclusion are integral to all of these themes.
Call for Contributions
Whether you're a supervisor, supervisor and researcher developer, researcher, research manager, policy maker, funder or a Dean and Director of Doctoral Schools, we welcome your scholarly work, lived experiences, evidence-based practice, and blue sky ideas. You can contribute via:
Work in Progress Carousels (15 mins)
Unpack an ongoing supervisory experience or intervention.
Platform Pitches (10 mins)
Pitch a bold recommendation or provocative idea for sustainable change.
Scholarly Papers (30 mins)
Share empirical data or deep theoretical perspectives.
Interactive Culture Change Workshops (60 mins)
Walk us through a real-world institutional intervention.

We are looking for strong representation from Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) and Industry-based supervisors. You are invited to signal how your work relates to the RSVP focus on pedagogy, practice and policy.
