To support supervisor developers in delivering engaging and relevant professional development focused on their institutional policies and processes, this guide provides ideas for effective practice. It takes the form of generic slide templates covering the different stages in the ‘lifecycle’ of a doctoral candidate. This structure is designed to serve as a starting point for supervisor developers to create effective and engaging institution-specific materials.
Learning objectives
Supervisor developers will be supported to:
take a reflective approach to their own practice when designing materials on doctoral policies and processes
enhance the relevance of materials designed for supervisors by clearly articulating rationales and positive impacts for topics covered
feel more confident in designing and delivering relevant and engaging material that can serve as an effective bridge to other elements of their supervisor professional development programme.

This flexible resource contains guidance, templates, and suggestions, and can be used as a reference for local activities delivered either as a standalone session, or topic-based series
